Remote Access with Tailscale

Remote Access with Tailscale

Tailscale creates a private mesh network between all your devices — no VPN server configuration, no port forwarding, no risk. The ideal tool for accessing Home Assistant from anywhere.

How It Works

  • Each device installs the Tailscale client → gets an IP in the 100.64.0.0/10 network
  • End-to-end encrypted peer-to-peer connection
  • No router configuration required

Installation

Install Tailscale on your Home Assistant server, your phone, and your laptop. Once logged in, your Home Assistant instance is accessible from anywhere at a fixed address like 100.84.x.x.

Security

Tailscale uses WireGuard protocol. Your traffic is encrypted and your home network never exposed to the public internet.
